Pafos in December

Posted on December 11, 2011

Interesting that main bus station so far away from sea. You can get from Limassol, Nicosia or Larnaka by bus to Pafos/Paphos. Interesting that on all maps and wiki city called Paphos, but inside city all titles was include Pafos only, not a Paphos.

Pafos city bus routes are developed, and there big bus station in torusit area, near Pafos Marina. But i don’t use bus in cities at all. Distances not that big, so got a walk to sea true town. Old city center is nice and similar so Limassol, but packed with more shops and boutiques.

Choose hotel by comments online, and poisition. How i was wrong with city districs. It was not a tourist area at all, not yet a city center. Somewhere in the middle betwean them near local “motorway”. Mine attraction was Thai-Chinese restoran on that road near hotel. Turns out its not that good, and importantly to fancy looking for me. I have strange feelings dining in luxury places, even if prices compared to prices in old looking cafe in the middle of nowhere. Thai Tom Yam Kha Kai was delicious, mostly remind me real Thailand street cafe. But the size, the size of the bowl was so small and 7 EUR for that?! But then happened what i most can’t expect at all. . F*** are they kidding me, green tea in Chinese restoran was served in paper stick, some like “Lipton”. With no brand on it, but anyway. This is crazy. So i was so confused that no photos of Tom Yam ;( And it may looking bad, to take photos in restoran too :) With the thai name, all i sow, was chinese stuff, that hardly understand what Tom Yam are, because in menu it labeled Tom Kai.

What made my day and all mini-trip was Oneill’s Irish pub on the same street. Awesome place with awesome stuff and visitors. Mostly was UK expats. Beer amazingly cheap from 2 EUR/pint up to 4 EUR/pint for draught Ginness.
Live music rocks. Expats band was presented in just one member who done vocal and guitar covers of many popular songs. Requests was wellcomed. So he even done one Russian song, i think his parents was Russians or so, coz his name are Alex, and hi singing on Russian pretty well.

What to do in Pafos in early evening? Take a place in some cafe with sea view above city. There many one like that. And watch sunset, city skyline + sea + orange sun light. Great.
